Erasmus+ scholarship for Studies
An EU initiative called Erasmus+ aims to improve employability and skills while also modernizing youth jobs, education, and training. More than 4 million participants in Europe have access to the program’s opportunities to study, train, and work abroad.
You have the option to study for two to twelve months at one of our Erasmus+ partner universities as a Jönköping University student. Any student who is chosen and nominated to be an Erasmus student is eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship. The scholarship is a financial aid program financed by the EU that will assist you in paying for additional expenses associated with your international travel.
A student must spend a minimum of 60 days and a maximum of 360 days on campus. The monthly scholarship payment ranges from 460 to 510 euros at the moment.
Participating Countries
The member states of the European Union, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey and Serbia can fully take part in the Erasmus+ mobility programme. Switzerland and the UK are not a part of Erasmus+.
Types of Mobility
- Physical mobility = on-site studies in the host country, either on campus or entirely or partially online
- Virtual mobility = online studies that do not take place in the host country, but from Sweden or another country than the host country
- Blended mobility = a combination of physical and virtual mobility
After The Application
After the application deadline, students will get an email stating whether or not their application was approved. Please take notice that your JU mail will receive the decision. You will receive more information in that message.
Mandatory Documents
- Grant Agreement – signed by Erasmus coordinator and student. An agreement between the student and Jönköping University. The applicant becomes the beneficiary of an EU grant and can start the mobility.
- Learning Agreement – signed by the student, partner university and home university. An agreement between the three parties regarding the choice of courses.
- Certificate of Attendance – signed by partner university at the end of your exchange. The exchange rates are the student’s actual time present at the partner university.

Mandatory EU survey
After your exchange, you will receive an invitation from the EU Commission to an online participant report. This is a mandatory evaluation to submit.
You will receive an invitation to the EU survey once you have updated your final dates of stay your scholarship has been approved again and we have imported it into the EU system. Please keep in mind that this might take some time as we are processing a large number of scholarships at the same time.
Payments
- payment: 70% of the entire scholarship at the beginning of the exchange
- payment: 30% of the entire scholarship after the exchange.
Process – Students On Exchange Autumn 2023
You will receive an e-mail once the application for the autumn semester 2023 opens.
May 2023 Application opens for the Erasmus+ scholarship.
After the deadline, once we have reviewed all applications you will receive an e-mail from JU’s International Office if you have been granted the scholarship. Afterwards, you need to do the following:
- fill out your personal details in MOA
- and upload your signed Grant Agreement in MOA. Make sure to not miss the deadline announced in the e-mail.
- do the OLS test which will be sent to your JU e-mail after you upload your Grant Agreement in MOA (if done, please mark it in MOA).
Create your Digital Learning Agreement
- and add your approved courses from IntApps to the Digital Learning Agreement (DLA) in MOA. Please take a look at the Handbooks further up to the right under “Documents”.
Once you have uploaded your Grant Agreement, Jönköping University will make the first payment (70% of the total amount) at the end of every month.
Please remember that the deadline is only for the Grant Agreement and not the Learning Agreement.
Good to know that it can take up to two weeks before the money has been transferred to your bank account.
Swedish Language Courses
When you want to stay in a foreign country for an extended period of time, it is usually beneficial to receive assistance with learning the local language as well as an introduction to the local customs and culture.
We will only be able to accommodate a small number of students in the following courses, which are solely open to JU exchange and program students:
Swedish Language, Culture and Society
The course offers students basic communicative skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Swedish. After the course, students should be able to understand and make themselves understood in situations occurring in daily life in Sweden. Included in the course is also basic knowledge of Swedish society and culture. The study pace is 50%, which translates into approximately six hours of lessons and lectures per week.

Accommodation and Arrival

Administrative Fee For Accommodation Application
As a part of the accommodation application process, an administrative fee of 700 SEK is required. The payment is obligatory for all Bachelor, Master, and Exchange students who choose to apply for housing, hence, making use of the accommodation guarantee provided by the University. Doctoral Programs
