Tsinghua Admission

The undergraduate programs of Tsinghua University are 4-year full-time study except for a. Architecture Program in Architecture Division and Sculpture Program in Arts Division require 5 years; b. Clinical Medicine Program requires 8 years (Bachelor to Doctoral Degree). The programs are delivered in Chinese and English. A bachelor’s degree and graduation certificate will be awarded if the student finishes all the required coursework and passes the thesis defense.

Starting in 2017, Tsinghua began to integrate programs/majors into divisions and recruit students of undergraduate programs by division. There are 17 divisions open to international students. Upon arriving at Tsinghua University, students from most divisions will undergo the general curriculum of their divisions in their first academic year. By the end of the first academic year, the specific programs/majors will be confirmed. In the second academic year, students enter the relevant schools/departments for major study.

Faculty

Throughout its history, Tsinghua University has nurtured and attracted large numbers of outstanding experts and scholars. The university has followed the guideline of “hiring as well as cultivating talented people” and has created opportunities to help broaden the capabilities of young teachers. In order to have a high-level teaching staff, Tsinghua has brought in distinguished professionals from throughout the country and the world.

By the end of 2021, Tsinghua has 3,738 faculty members, among whom 1,790 faculty members are under the age of 45. Tsinghua has a Nobel laureate, as well as winners of the A.M. Turing Award, Fields Medal, Wolf Prize, Crafoord Prize, and the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award. The university also has 54 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 38 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

  • Application Review
  • Applications submitted with all the information correct and completed will be evaluated by Tsinghua University.
  • Integrative Test
  • Applicants who have passed the Application Review will be admitted to the integrative test. The method and time of the integrative test will be informed in advance.Test(s) for Arts Division applicants will be notified in advance. Applicants who apply for the Architecture Division will go through the portfolio review. 

The admission decision is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, language ability, supporting materials as well and integrative tests.

The Zijing International Student Apartments of Tsinghua University provide two types of on-campus dormitory rooms to some international students: double rooms and triple rooms.   • For Undergraduate Programs Higher Secondary Education Completed Before the last date.
